Wion

As the world appeared to be finally fighting off the Delta variant of coronavirus with the help of vaccines and booster shots, a new strain of COVID-19 emerged — Omicron.
Dubbed as one of the most transmissible variants of coronavirus, Omicron (B.1.1.529) was initially identified in patients in Botswana and South Africa in the beginning of December 2021.

While it is not yet clear if this variant is more severe than the Delta variant, the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Virus Evolution (TAG-VE) has claimed that this variant has more mutations and may thus easily spread across the world.

As cases surge all over the world, WION brings you latest Omicron variant updates from around the world. From lockdowns to travel restrictions to symptoms, vaccines and medication, WION will keep you updated with worldwide and India Omicron updates.
