Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat clinched the gold medal in women's freestyle 50 kg category at the 2018 Asian Games on Monday.

Phogat defeated Japan's Irie Yuki by 2-6, and became the first ever woman to win a gold for India wrestling.

Phogat hardly broke into a sweat in her semi-final encounter against Daulatbike Yakshimuratova of Uzbekistan, as the referees took just 75 seconds to declare the Indian the winner by technical superiority, 10-0.

A wrestler is considered winner by technical superiority when she/he leads by 10 or more points.

Vinesh had earlier registered a comfortable 11-0 victory over South Korea's Kim Hyungjoo in the quarter-finals, after defeating China's Sun Yanan by 8-2.

This is India's second gold as wrestler Bajrang Punia defeated Takatani Daichi of Japan to clinch India's first gold in the tournament on August 19.

Earlier today, Lakshya Sheoran clinched silver in Men's Trap Shooting and Deepak Kumar delivered the silver medal in 10 meters rifle event and China's Yang Haoram took the gold medal.
