As it happened | Hockey World Cup 2018: France beat Argentina 5-3

Its full time! And France have won it. They netted five goals to beat Olympic gold medallist Argentina. Though Argentina tried hard to male a comeback but France scored their fifth goal to completely diminish their chances in today's game. 

By virtue of this win, France have occupied the 2nd position in the Pool A, while Spain are out from the tournament. 

After succeeding two back goals, France netted one minutes before the full time to double its lead.

With only minutes left for the fourth and final quarter to end, France are 5 -3 Argentina.

Argentina get its third goal against France at the start of the fourth and final quarter. They are just a goal behind their opposition.

Argentina scored its second goal against Francs, promising a comeback for sure. They now need two more goals to hold France.

Gonzalo Peillat scored as his rocket like drag flick beat the right of French Goalkeeper.

France 4-2 Argentina is the score now.

France still pressing hard in the Argentina's circle, but it should be opposite. It is Argentina who need to make a comeback to hold France.   

What a game it is. So far the best clash in the Hockey World Cup 2018.

France scored the 4th goal as the flash after deflection from Argentina's goalkeeper put in to the near post. Before that they netted three goals to take advantage.

While Argentina made a comebcak by scoring a goal but the performnce was outclassed by the fourth goal from France. 

France had a quite first quarter but the lowest ranked team in the world cup, France, converted almost all the chances to destroy Spanish dream to play the cross-overs.

Now, Argentina draws its first blood. 

After succeeding three goals, Argentina finally scored one to keep the game alive.

So, a total of four goals have been scored in Quarter 2 so far. We still have few second left.

It's a third goal against Argentina. Wow! what a game it is turning out to be. 

France has scored three goals in 2nd quarters to dominate the game.  Argentina is completely in a state of shock.

After going goalless in the first quarter, France scored a brilliant goal to have an upper hand. 

France have the first chance in the second quarter but a brilliant save from Argentina's goalkeeper.
 

France make first circle entry but a brilliant defense keep them at bay. Both the teams are on their toes and eye an early advantage to dominate the other.

The second hockey match today will be played between Rio Olympics gold medallists Argentina take on France in Bhubaneswar. 

Argentina is coming into the match undefeated and are the clear favourites going into the match. 

France, on the other hand, will be high on confidence after playing a draw against Spain and they will look to hold Argentina to a draw to keep their chances afloat.
