Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and currently serving a jail sentence, Nawaz Sharif was allowed to meet his family members in the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Friday ANI reported.

Earlier on Wednesday, Sharif's brother and Pakistan Muslim-League (Nawaz) president Shehbaz Sharif and his family had also met the father-daughter duo in the jail.

According to a report by Geo news, Khawaja Asif, Senator Tanvir Chauhdry and Abdul Qadir Baloch are among party leaders who arrived at the jail today to meet the former premier apart from his family.

Nawaz Sharif's family and Pakistan Muslim-League (Nawaz) party members had filed a plea to meet the leader and his daughter Maryam Nawaz in the prison following which the authorities gave permission and apprised the superintendent to do so.

Initially, the authorities had allocated Thursday for the meeting but due to the Eid holidays, it was shifted to Friday.

Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz are serving imprisonment of ten and seven years respectively after the two were convicted in a corruption case related to Avenfield Appartments in Britain which emerged in the wake of Panama Papers revelations.
