From Shikhar Dhawan to Ankita Raina: A look at players who won prestigious Arjuna award this year

Arpinder Singh is an Indian triple jumper. He won a gold medal in Triple Jump at Asian Games, 2018.

He has previously won Bronze Medal at IAAF Continental Cup in 2018 and Bronze Medal at the Commonwealth Games, 2014.

The 28-year-old was conferred with the Arjuna Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements in Athletics.

Simranjit Kaur is an Indian boxer in the light welterweight category who has won a silver medal at Asian Boxing Championship in 2019 and a bronze medal at AIBA World Boxing Championship in 2018.

She was honoured with the Arjuna Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in Boxing.

Monika Malik and Vandana Katariya both play for the Indian hockey team. Monica plays as a midfielder whereas Vandana Katariya plays as forward for the national team. 

Indian women's hockey team missed on bronze in Tokyo Olympics but surpassed all the expectations. The Hockey team brought laurels when they won Silver Medal at Asian Games in 2018 and Gold Medal in Asia Cup 2017.

They both were conferred with Arjuna Awards in recognition of their outstanding achievements in Hockey.

He won a Gold Medal in 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team at Asian Shooting Championship, 2019 and Gold Medal in 10M Air Pistol Team Men at 12th Asian Airgun Championship, 2019.

Ankita Raina is Indian tennis player. She won a Bronze medal in Women's Singles, 18th Asian Games at Jakarta in 2018 and Silver Medal in Women's Doubles at 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Turkmenistan 2017.

She was recognised for her outstanding achievements in Tennis.

Indian men's hockey team created history in Tokyo Olympics after they won a bronze medal after 41 years of long wait. Indian team beat Germany in the bronze medal match by 5-4.

Dilpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Surender Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Birender Lakra, Sumit, Nilakanta Sharma, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, Varun Kumar and Simranjeet Singh were all conferred with the Arjuna Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements in Hockey.

In Tokyo Paralympics, many Para-athletes brought laurels to India.

Praveen Kumar won a Silver medal in the Men's high jump T64 event whereas Yogesh Kathuniya won a silver medal in the Discus throw.

Nishad Kumar and Sharad Kumar won a Silver and Bronze medal in the High Jump in T42 and T47 category respectively.
