Paris Olympics 2024, Day 7, Highlights: Lakshya Sen enters semis; Dhiraj/Ankita lose bronze medal match

India’s ace shuttler Lakshya Sen has entered the semifinal of the men’s singles in badminton at the Paris Olympics after a comeback win against Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-Chen.

In a disappointing development in the mixed archery at the Paris Olympics 2024, the Indian pair of Dhiraj and Ankita failed to secure the bronze medal, losing to the USA 2-6. 

India is yet to secure a medal in archery at the Summer Games.

The mixed archery pair of Dhiraj and Ankita qualified for the bronze medal match after losing to South Korea's Woojin/Sihyeon 3-5 in the semis clash at the Paris Olympics 2024. 

They will now face the winner of Germany and the USA for the bronze medal. 

Their bronze medal match will be played at 7:54 PM IST on Thursday.

India have beaten Australia in Hockey after 52 years in an Olympic match as they officially enter the last 8. 

Already a two-time bronze medal winner at the Paris Olympics 2024, Indian shooter Manu Bhaker has made it to the Women's 25M Air Pistol Final.

She finished second with a final score of 590-24x.

Meanwhile, her compatriot, Esha Singh, finished 18 with a score of 581-17x, thus missing out on the final.

Manu will be in action on Saturday (August 3) at 1 pm IST.

India will face Australia in their final pool match with the contest set to take place in less than an hours time. India lost to Belgium on Thursday and will aim for a win before heading into the kockouts. 

Manu Bhaker, with two medals in Paris 2024, will kickoff her 25m pistol event (precision) after the relay 1 shooters will complete their three series in the round.

Currently, Esha is at the 12th spot after she completed her first series with a points tally of 6.500. Her first and fourth shots were 9 and the rest three were fired for 10. 

On Thursday (Aug 1), American Simone Biles won the women's all-around gymnastics gold medal at the Paris Olympics. Brazil's Rebeca Andrade settled for silver whereas American Sunisa Lee won bronze.

Britan star Andy Murray bowed out of the Paris Games with a doubles loss. With this, his tennis career also came to an end. After the match, he said, "I'm proud of my career, my achievements and what I put into the sport. Obviously it was emotional because it's the last time I will play a competitive match. But I am genuinely happy just now. I'm happy with how it finished."
