Lok Sabha elections: Doubt arises when party formed for Maharashtra pride backs its 'enemies': Raut targets Raj Thackeray
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday took a dig at MNS chief Raj Thackeray, saying doubt arises in the minds of people when an outfit formed to safeguard the pride of Maharashtra backs its "enemies".
His comments come a day after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Thackeray announced unconditional support to the ruling 'Mahayuti' alliance of the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP in the state and backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Raut said his party is fighting for Maharashtra's pride, and alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken in its fold "all corrupt persons".
"Businesses are driven away from Maharashtra, attempts are being made to break and cripple Mumbai. In such circumstances, if a party formed for Maharashtra pride backs enemies of Maharashtra, then a doubt arises in the minds of people. He (Raj Thackeray) has to answer the questions," Raut said.

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi files complaint against BJP
Congress MP and Lok Sabha poll candidate from Nagaon constituency in Assam, Pradyut Bordoloi who on Tuesday filed a complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, alleging that he violated the model code of conduct has also filed another complaint with the chief electoral officer against the Bhartiya Janata Party.
Bordoloi has alleged that the BJP was continuing with the controversial socio-economic survey, for which a show-cause notice has already been served to the ruling party.
"Despite receiving a show cause notice from the CEO on April 6 regarding electoral inducement, the government has continued to distribute forms for conducting a socio-economic survey, promising to include beneficiaries under the 'Orunodoi' cash direct benefit transfer (DBT) scheme," said the Congress MP.
Bordoloi claimed that such forms were being distributed in Ward No 1 of Matharboi of Barapujia Gaon Panchayat in Morigaon district on Tuesday.
"I fear that similar activities might be taking place in other locations as well. This blatant disregard for electoral norms and the misuse of government schemes for electoral gains is unacceptable," he added.
The CEO's office on April 5 show caused the ruling BJP over an allegation of violation of MCC, raised by the CPI(M).

Lok Sabha elections 2024: Congress MP files complaint against Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma over Model Code of Conduct 'violation'
Congress MP and Lok Sabha poll candidate from Nagaon constituency in Assam, Pradyut Bordoloi, as per reports, has filed a complaint against Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. He alleges that Sarma has violated the model code of conduct by offering money to all ration cardholders during the ongoing election campaign.
Bordoloi filed a complaint to the chief election commissioner on Tuesday night. In it, he alleged that Sarma, in a public meeting in Lakhimpur the same day, promised voters that he will transfer Rs 10,000 (around $120) to the bank accounts of every ration cardholder after the election.
Stating that such assurances are a "clear violation" of MCC, the Congress leader said, "Such promises are not only unethical but also an attempt to influence voters through financial inducements, thereby compromising the integrity of the electoral process".
He urged the ECI to investigate the matter thoroughly and take appropriate action against the chief minister for his "misconduct".
