New Delhi, Delhi, India
Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday suggested the use of ballot papers in India instead of EVMs, like Pakistan.
While addressing the media, Gandhi said that if Pakistan can use ballot papers then India should consider doing so as well as it could save a lot of electricity which gets wasted to keep the machines operational for hours.
Earlier this year as well, the Congress asserted that the Election Commission should go back to using ballot in order to ensure credibility to the election process.
Rahul Gandhi-led grand old party had said that the voting and counting process must remain transparent to retain people's faith in the integrity of the electoral system.
His comments come as voting for Pakistan general elections are underway. A powerful blast ripped through an area in Quetta close to a booth as polling was underway on Wednesday morning, killing 32 and injuring at least 40.
In another incident, there were reports of a cracker being thrown at Bhuttos' Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) facilitation camp near Shah Muhammad Primary School in Larkana. According to preliminary information, four people have been injured.
As many as 12,570 candidates will be contesting for a total 849 seats of national and provincial assemblies in the general election scheduled for July 25.
