Session 1:

Climate Change: Stewarding a common goal
  • As global leaders gather in New York to discuss UN’s sustainable development goal, the summit will explore the global nature of climate change and the rise of worldwide greenhouse gas emissions.
  • The climate change session will explore ways in which governments, businesses and NGOs can address the challenge of climate change and find reliable solutions. Discussions will also centre around the use of single-use plastic and policies needed to eradicate it.

Fireside chat with Arvind Panagariya on the Indian economy and reforms
  • Professor Arvind Panagariya from Columbia University in conversation with WION's Executive Editor Palki S. Upadhyay will discuss the current state of the Indian economy and reforms needed to power it ahead.
  • Professor Arvind Panagariya will also discuss how India can enhance and sustain its growth as the country seeks to create high paying jobs to achieve the target of a $5 trillion economy.

Session 2:

Brand Modi 2.0: Reimagining India's foreign policy landscape
  • In addition to the UNGA in New York, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be visiting Houston, Texas to address over 50,000 members of the Indian-American community. PM Modi will be joined by US President Donald Trump at the event signifying the importance of the Indian community in America.
  • In the backdrop of the mega Indian diaspora event, the session will analyse the rise of India's soft power in the current global context. The discussions will centre around the country's foreign policy from PM Modi's first term and its changing nature going forward in the next decade.
