Marathi actor Vijay Chavan died at the age of 63 at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai on August 24, 2018.
Vijay died after a prolonged battle with a lung disease. The news was shared by fellow Marathi actor Ajinkya Deo who tweeted about the actor’s demise.

The veteran actor was best known for films like 'Zapatlela', 'Jatra', 'Aga Bai Arrecha', 'Pachadlela' and 'Mumbaicha Dabewala' among others. He gained prominence with popular Marathi stage drama ‘Moruchi Mavshi’ in which he played the iconic role of Mavshi. The drama was written by Pralhad Keshav Atre.
He received the prestigious accolade of being given V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
Vijay played the supporting actor to many prominent Marathi actors like Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Sachin Pilgaonkar, Mahesh Manjrekar.
