Adult films star turned Bollywood actress Sunny Leone did her bit to provide support to the people of Kerala as she donated 1200 kgs of food for those in need.
In an Instagram post, Sunny shared a picture of herself with husband Daniel Weber as they posed in front of packed brown bags of rice and pulses for those displaced because of the floods in Kerala.
She wrote: “Today Daniel and I will hopefully be able to feed a few of the many people in Kerala that need a warm meal with 1,200 kg (1.3 tons) of rice and daal. I know it’s not a dent in what actually needs to be sent and I wish I could do more.” The actor thanked actor Prateik Babbar and Siddhant Kapoor for organising a special fundraiser for Kerala. She wrote: “Humanity at its finest, Prateik Babbar and Siddhanth Kapoor, the men who arranged an amazing event at B in Juhu to bring help to those in need. You guys are so amazing.”
The fund-raiser was organised by Prateik and Siddhanth along with restaurateur Suved Lohia. In a statement, Prateik said, “I wanted to do more than just contributing financially since I believe the victims would need the essential necessities to rebuild their lives and not just financial aid. While we are accepting financial donations, our attempt is to bring together the entire industry on a single platform and show solidarity towards the unfortunate calamity by actually showing up at the event. In fact, we plan to visit Kerala and distribute what we have so collected so that we know our efforts are reaching those afflicted directly.”
With this contribution, Sunny joined the list of celebrities who have made donations for relief and rehabilitation of the people affected by floods. Others include Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas, Sushant Singh Rajput and many others.
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma provided support for people as well as money for saving stray animals trapped by the floods.
Actor Randeep Hooda joined the Khalsa Aid and was seen cooking food for affected people.
