Android users can now link their bank account to their WhatsApp and facilitate online payments. Android beta users will have a WhatsApp Payments option that can be enabled.
Users will be asked to link their bank account with the WhatsApp account and will also get an option to scan QR codes for payments.
WhatsApp's 2.18.79 Android version lets you link your bank account to your WhatsApp after verifying the mobile number via an SMS.
The Scan QR Code option -- available on WhatsApp version 2.18.93 -- will enable users to make payments by scanning QR codes.
The service can be accessed by going to Settings > Payments. (WION)
To access the feature you need to make sure that your Android device has the latest version of the application installed. The service can be accessed by going to Settings > Payments.
The Facebook-owned instant messaging application first launched its payment service option in February this year for select Android and iPhone devices.
