Benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE’s Nifty 50 traded marginally higher on Monday as traders await key Karnataka election results and inflation data.

BSE Sensex traded higher by 38.20 points, or 0.11%, to 35,573.99, while the Nifty 50 rose 9.90 points, or 0.09%, to 10,816.40.

Forex dealers attributed the rise in the rupee to the weakness of the dollar against other currencies overseas.

In economic data, India's wholesale price index (WPI), consumer price index (CPI) and trade balance data are due during this week.
