The police in Fairfax, Virginia found a body they believe to be a 17-year-old girl gone missing since being abducted walking from a restaurant to her mosque this Saturday night, Raw Story reports.
NBC Washington reported that taken into custody and charged with murder was 22-year-old Darwin Martinez Torres, after the remains were found on Sunday afternoon in a pond.
A witness said that 17-year-old Nabra Hussein was with a group of friends heading from their mosque when they were accosted by a man in a red car, who shouted insults at them. This man stopped his car, before getting out with a baseball bat to attack Hussein. He disappeared with her.
The girl's friends called police and a desperate search was carried out, but she was not found.
At around 3 pm on Sunday, remains believed to be the girl's were found in a pond afer the cops saw a car driving erratically and pulled over the driver. They then took him into custody on suspicion of murder.
Police recovered a baseball bat from the area they believe is the murder weapon.
Before a positive identification of the body can take place, a medical examiner's certification will be necessary.
