Rain stopped play on the third day of the opening Test between Australia and India Saturday, with the umpires calling a halt after Mitchell Starc was caught.

Play had started 45 minutes late and they managed to get 3.4 overs in before light drizzle began falling again.

Australia were 204-8 in their first innings in reply to India's 250, with Travis Head not out 66.

Starc added seven runs to his overnight eight before he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant after he got a thin edge to a Jasprit Bumrah delivery.
