The Islamic State today claimed responsibility for the attack in Baghdad that killed seven and wounded at least 28 people.

The militants’ Amaq news agency stated that the bombing targeted members of the Badr organisation, backed by Iran.

The IS had also claimed a truck bombing that took place in July killing more than 300 people in the Karada shopping area.

The hardline Sunni group controls areas of northern and western Iraq, including the city of Mosul since 2004.
