Iran has called for a meeting of the commission overseeing the 2015 nuclear deal alleging violation of the agreement by the US.

The 2015 nuclear agreement signed with US and five other world powers grants Iran relief from economic sanctions in exchange of reducing its nuclear production.

Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif asked for the meeting in a letter to European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini, state agency IRNA reported.

The White House said bill increasing US sanctions against Iran for ten years will become law without outgoing President Barack Obama's signature.

However it will not impact international pact limiting Iran's nuclear programme.

In response, Iran ordered its scientists to build systems for nuclear-powered marine vessels.

Relations are already strained after US President-elect Donald Trump's promise to abolish the pact.
