Indian-origin teenager raped, murdered in London

An Indian Muslim teenager was kidnapped, raped and murdered in London in a suspected case of honour killing, prosecutors told the court.
The teenager was involved in a relationship with an Arab Muslim man, media reports quoted prosecutor Binita Roscoe as telling the Wimbledon Magistrates' Court.
Celine Dookhran, 19, and her friend - in her 20s - were tied, gagged and kidnapped by masked men on Wednesday and taken to a house in London where they were both raped, their throat slit and Celine Dookhran murdered. The survivor fled after the attack on her.
Celine's body was found inside the 1.5 million pound home after Celine's friend alerted police from a hospital, media reports said. The prosecutor told the court that the accused had entered the property on July 19.
The cause of death as an incised wound to the neck, post-mortem report stated.
“Her face and mouth were covered in duct tape. Her hands were tied with cable tie. She believes a sock was placed in her mouth. She had heard the deceased who was in the shower screaming,” the prosecutor told the court. “The deceased was brought down tied up. They were bound in dust sheets and placed in a vehicle.”
An aspiring make-up artist, a blog from Celine's school media project described her as having worked in the make-up department of a thriller film.
The accused, 33-year-old Mujahid Arshid appeared before the Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday and has been charged with the murder, attempted murder, rape and kidnapping, media reports said.
His accomplice, Vincent Tappu, 28, has been charged with kidnapping both women.
Both have been remanded to custody till August 21.
