He will play the role of Detective Pikachu in a live-action film
Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds has joined the cast of a Pokemon movie in the role of Detective Pikachu.
The actor will be lending his voice to the detective who owns mythical animated character Pikachu.
Joining Reynolds in the film will be actors Justice Smith and Kathryn Newton in the live-action film.
Reynolds' shots will be captured by motion caption technology giving it the live-action feel.
The Pokemon film will be directed by Rob Letterman while the script is written by Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch. The story of the film is about a teenager who teams up with Pikachu in order to find his kidnapped father.
For background, "Detective Pikachu" was a video game launched in Japan in 2016. According to the game, the character Pikachu would help a child solve mysteries with new powers of being able to speak in human languages and wearing a reindeer cap just like Sherlock Holmes.
Filming on the project is expected to start soon.
