"Justice League's" 'Batman', actor Ben Affleck is back to his unhealthy ways after he was spotted returning to a residential rehab facility with a female friend by his side.

He was clicked by the paparazzi outside the Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society in Santa Monica, California with his arm casually thrown around the shoulder of a 'woman' friend on Sunday. In pictures, he looked to be calm and in good spirits while walking outside the centre.

The 45-year-old actor has been battling with alcohol addiction since 2001 when he announced his state to the public. He sought treatment for substance abuse the same year and completed a second programme earlier 2017. He has been spotted at various treatment centres around Los Angeles in recent weeks.

In March, the actor also posted a heartfelt message, thanking all those who have stood by him and helped him during his struggle:

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step. I'm lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I've done the work I set out to do."
