Actress Angelina Jolie reportedly filed for divorce from Brad Pitt after he physically and verbally abused their children on a flight, TMZ has reported. The actor apparently created a scene after consuming alcohol and continued to rant and rave after the couple's private jet landed in Los Angeles at 8 pm.
Brad Pitt, meanwhile, denies that he abused his children. TMZ quoted a source as saying, "He takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children. It's unfortunate that people involved are continuing to present him in the worst possible light."
TMZ also reported that the actor is under investigation for abusing his children by the Los Angeles Police Department and the L.A. County Dept. of Children and Family Services. Investigation by the LAPD is routine when anybody reports child abuse.
TMZ had earlier reported that Jolie filed for divorce on Monday citing 'irreconciliable differences', and asking for the custody of their six children - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox and Vivienne. It had stated that she was "fed up with his consumption of weed", "possibly alcohol" and "anger problem".
Pitt apparently wants things to work out and has offered to go into therapy for substance abuse, The Sun reported. “Brad was desperate for Angelina to give him one more chance. He offered to improve and even go into intense therapy. The reality is Brad’s still madly in love with Angelina. He adores her and never intentionally tried to hurt her," sources close to the couple apparently told the tabloid.
Marion Cotillard denies involvement:
Meanwhile, French actress Marion Cotillard, whose name has propped up in the Brangelina split, has denied reports of her involvement with the actor in an Instagram post today. The actress, confirming her pregnancy with her partner, wrote: I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up. Firstly, many years ago, I met the man of my life, father of our son and of the baby we are expecting. He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need.
She signed off, writing: Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment.
Brad and Angelina, who reportedly began dating on the sets of Mr & Mrs Smith in 2005, were married in 2014.
