At least nine injured in shooting attack in Houston, suspect shot dead

Several of the victims suffered gunshot wounds to their extremities and a couple of the injuries was more serious, Fire department spokesman Richard Mann was quoted as saying by Reuters.
The suspect fired 20 to 30 shots in the wealthy neighbourhood of West University Place, the international news agency said.
"Suspect vehicle had additional weapons inside," the Houston police department tweeted. The officials were also trying to identify the shooter.

According to AFP, witnesses said the shooter started firing at about 6:30 a.m. (1130 GMT) onto moving cars from an area near an apartment complex.
"The shots were coming almost non-stop. Four, five, six at a time," Jaime Zamora, an eyewitness a cameraman for Houston television station KTRK, told AFP. He estimated that between 30 and 50 shots were fired.
Meanwhile, in a bid to help the victims, emergency responders set up a staging area at a nearby strip mall, AFP reported.
Cars with bullet holes and broken windows could be seen in live video streams.
