Mercedes' Nico Rosberg bagged pole position in dominant fashion at the Singapore Grand Prix, with teammate Lewis Hamilton finishing third.
Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo managed to split the Mercedes pair by finishing second.
Rosberg, who is trailing Hamilton in the Drivers' Championship by just two points, will be looking to win his third straight race on Sunday.
"I am definitely happy. It was one of my top three laps ever," Rosberg said, moments after the stunning display to win his maiden pole position in Singapore and the 29th of his career.
A disappointed Hamilton gave credit fo his teammate for the "great job" during Q3 of the qualifying round.
Ricciardo's partner Max Verstappen came fourth, followed by Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari). The Toro Rosso duo of Carlos Sainz Junior and Daniil Kvyat came sixth and seventh, followed by Nico Hulkenberg, Fernando Alonso and Sergio Perez.
Four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel will start last due to an anti-roll bar failure.
