Shot-putter Manpreet Kaur fails dope test

Manpreet Kaur, who won a gold medal in the recent Asian Athletics Championships has tested positive in a dope test, according to the Athletics Federation of India.

The test was conducted by national anti-doping officials during the Federation Cup National Championships in Patiala last month.

Manpreet tested positive for dimethylbutylamine which is a banned substance under the World Anti-Doping Agency(WADA) code.

There will be another test to confirm the result, Manpreet will lose her gold medal she won at the Asian Athletics Championships if sample ''B" also tests positive.

Manpreet had qualified for next month's World Championships to be held in London but the latest development may rule her out of the event.     

Manpreet had set a national record in the first leg of the Asian Grand Prix meet in China with a throw of 18.86m which fetched her a gold as well as a World Championships berth.
