Andrea Dovizioso won pole position beating Valentino Rossi, winner of multiple MotoGP's and nine Grand Prix World Championships for the Malaysian MotoGP on Saturday.
Dovizioso clocked a lap of 2min 11.485 seconds and achieved the second pole of the season.
His victory will lead to a clash between Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo, his teammate for Yamaha. They both will be competing for runner-up position after Marc Marquez's, the MotoGP champion.
Marquez achieved the title two weeks back in Japan's MotoGP championship.
Malaysia's Sepang circuit on Saturday signed a deal with Dorna Sports, MotoGP's commercial rights holder to extend it till 2021.
The Sepang circuit has been hosting the motorcycling event since it opened in 1999.
Sepang International Circuit chairman Azman Yahya told reporters, "We will continue with the MotoGP for the next five years and we think that we will see an even better response from the Malaysian public," AFP quoted him saying.
