Mercedes's Nico Rosberg took advantage of his teammate Lewis Hamilton's poor start to win the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday.

Rosberg's seventh win of the season helped him cut short Lewis Hamilton's championship lead to just two points.

Briton Hamilton started the race in pole position but his poor start from the grid gave Rosberg the chance to overtake him.

The Ferrari pair Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen came third and fourth respectively.

"It's great to win in Italy,"Rosberg said after his maiden win at the Monza track. It was also his 50th podium finish of his career.

This was also the first time in seven years that the pole-sitter didn't manage to win the Italian GP.
