United World Wrestling on Tuesday announced that London Olympics 2012 gold medallist Togrul Asgarov has not failed a dope test, putting rest to speculation that Indian wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt's bronze and subsequently silver medal may get upgraded to gold.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Dutt won the bronze medal in the 60kg category. In August 2016, his bronze was upgraded to a silver because late Russian wrestler Besik Kudukhov had tested positive for a dope test.

A few days later, some media reports suggested that the 2012 gold medallist Asgarov had tested positive in a dope test, meaning a further medal elevation for Dutt.

Dutt had initially tweeted that he dedicates the silver medal to all his countrymen, but later went on to say that he would like the medal to remain with Kudukhov’s family as a sign of respect for the late wrestler.

Besik Kudukhov had died in a car crash a year after the 2012 Olympic Games.
