In a high voltage match, France defeated Olympic Champions Argentina 5-3 in the 3rd round of Pool-A match of the Men’s Hockey World Cup at Kalinga stadium in Bhubaneshwar on Thursday.

However, Argentina are through to the quarterfinals as they top the table with six points after defeating Spain 4-3 in the first match and New Zealand 3-0 in their 2nd match.

The bad news is for Spain as they got eliminated after being at the fourth position in Pool-A.

Meanwhile, France ended their pool engagements on the second spot with our points on account of a better goal difference than New Zealand (4 points).

As per the format of the tournament, the top four teams from four pools will directly qualify for the quarterfinals while the second and third-placed sides will play cross-over matches against teams of other pools for the remaining four last eight berths.
