The Bangladesh government today said that it has issued orders to stop the broadcast of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik's speeches.

"We have issued orders to completely stop the broadcast of Zakir Naik's speeches,"  Bangladesh information minister Hasanul Haq Inu said.
The move comes amid speculations that suspected Islamist extremists have been inspired by Naik.

Last month, Bangladesh had banned Naik's Peace TV, the international channel which broadcasts his speeches and other Islamic programmes, following media reports that two of the Dhaka cafe attackers were followers of the controversial preacher.
