ISRO has launched its PSLV C38 rocket from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, and put 31 satellites in orbit.
The rocket was carrying a Cartosat 2 series satellite and 30 co-passenger satellites.
The Cartosat will be India's sixth "eye in the sky".
It will orbit the Earth from 500 kms above and, according to media reports, will be capable of counting the number of army tanks parked in hostile territories.
