A video has emerged of last week's gau rakshak attack on a herder family in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi.

They attacked and injured a family of five -- including a nine-year-old girl -- who were grazing their livestock.

In the video, the group is seen attacking the family even as they take shelter in a police check post.

The attackers then break into sloganeering and try to violently attack the check post amid chants of 'Bharat mata ki jai' and 'jai Shri Ram'.

Four members of a self-styled "gau rakshak" (cow vigilante) group were arrested.

A senior police officer said a First Information Report (FIR) had been lodged against the persons involved in the attack against a nomadic family which took place in Talwara area.

The victims said the attackers mercilessly beat them and took away their entire flock including goats, sheep and cows.

The livestock has been restored to the family, media reports quoted police officials as saying.
