A wedding was called off in Uttar Pradesh's Rampur because no beef was served.

The marriage was called off by the groom's family. 

ANI reported that the incident took place at Dariyagarh village under the Bhot Police Station.

'The government has banned beef. How can we serve it?' the bride's mother said

ANI reported that the groom's family gave the bridegroom's family the ultimatum that they either serve beef or cancel the marriage.

And that the groom's family was allegedly also demanding a dowry.

"They demanded beef to be served at the wedding and a car. When we denied for both, they called off the wedding. The government has banned beef. How can we serve it?" ANI reported the bride's mother as saying.
