Delhi University has decided to include Chetan Bhagat’s novel as part of the English literature syllabus from this year’s academic session.
Second-year undergraduate students pursuing honours and programme courses under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) will be required to read Bhagat’s Five Point Someone.
His novel will be in the company of fiction novels by American novelist and poet Louisa M Alcott, English crime novelist Agatha Christie and British novelist JK Rowling, according to the Hindustan Times.
People on social media immediately started reacting to the news.

#Fivepointsomeone in university syllabus?! That's odd. Why bound expectations to 5?! Take it even lower & see if 'someones' can be built.— TeapotIdeas (@Teapotideas) April 24, 2017
