Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a strong pitch to party MPs to switch to digital electoral campaigns for future elections.
PM Modi in a breakfast meeting with members of Parliament from Telangana, Karnataka and Chattisgarh said mobile phones and social media have become the biggest interface with the people and this change has to be absorbed by the party.
The prime minister said that as India is moving towards a digital economy, the party should embrace digital campaigns as it is faster and feedback is immediate. PM Modi also urged BJP members of Parliament to be active and visible on social media tools like Twitter and Whatsapp.
Prime Minister emphasised that digital platforms will gain more significance in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and BJP should be prepared for it.
