Sri Lanka's high commissioner to Malaysia, Ibrahim Sahib Ansar, was mobbed by a group of people on Sunday evening at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport, local media reported today.
Quoting Sri Lanka's ministry of foreign affairs, the reports said that the high commission of Sri Lanka is coordinating with local law enforcement authorities in Malaysia to identify the perpetrators.
"The Government of Sri Lanka condemns this act of violence on Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner in Malaysia, in the strongest terms," the MFA said according to media reports.
Meanwhile, Ibrahim has been given medical attention.
Ibrahim was at KLIA to send off Sri Lankan primary industries minister Daya Gamage, who had attended the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, in Kuala Lumpur.
