Sri Lankan Navy arrests 12 Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu

The Sri Lankan Navy on Thursday arrested 12 Indian fishermen with two boats near Delft Island, ANI reported.

The fishermen, arrested early morning today, belong to Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram district.

The fishermen have been taken to Kankesanthurai Naval camp, where they are being interrogated, according to ANI.

Tamil Nadu fishermen went on an indefinite strike yesterday (August 9) demanding the release of 49 Indian fishermen who were arrested by Sri Lanka on Tuesday (August 8).
