Jammu & Kashmir Inspector General Muneer Khan said today the attack on Amaranth Yatra pilgrims was carried out by a Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) terrorist based in Pakistan.
"Yatra will go on, we will ensure that it goes on peacefully, Zulfiqar Hasan, IG (Operations), CRPF told ANI.
The attack is under investigation, CRPF Inspector General added. Security has been tightened in Anantnag after the attack.
Deputy CM J&K Nirmal Singh said all those injured in the terror attack were out of danger. J&K chief minister Mehbooba Mufti also met the injured pilgrims in an Anantnag hospital last night.
Meanwhile, Home minister Rajnath Singh has called a high-level meeting to be attended by India's intelligence officers.
Mobile data services have been stopped in Jammu, only state-run BSNL broadband services with limited speed is working, news agency ANI reported.
A bus bearing the registration number GJ09Z 9976 was attacked at around 8.20 pm(local time) on Monday near Khanabal when it was on its way to Jammu.
Police told PTI the bus was not a part of the yatra convoy which is being provided elaborate security. The terrorists first attacked a bullet-proof bunker of the police at Botengoo, a police official said, when the police retaliated, the terrorists fled, firing indiscriminately at the bus carrying the pilgrims.
Seven pilgrims were killed and 32 were injured. The police and top government sources have told PTI the bus driver had violated rules for the pilgrimage, which state that "no yatra vehicle should be on the highway after 7pm" as the security cover is withdrawn after that time.
