A 40-year-old security guard posted at the bungalow of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on her Kodanad tea estate in the Nilgiris in Kerala was found murdered, police said Monday.

Another on-duty security guard was also injured, PTI reported.

Police said the attack was carried out by a group of unidentified men who allegedly broke into the bungalow to steal valuables and some documents, PTI reported.

Villagers reportedly told police that a 10-member gang, in two vehicles, was seen entering the area in the early hours of the day.

The incident came to light when workers at the estate found the deceased Om Bahadur, along with Kishore Bahadur, lying in a pool of blood, their legs and hands bound, PTI reported.

Superintendent of Police Murali Ramba visited the spot and held an inquiry.

Kishore Bahadur has been admitted to hospital.

All police check posts in the Nilgiris district, connecting the states of Karnataka and Kerala, have been alerted,
