AIADMK leader VK Sasikala did have special privileges in prison, senior officers of the prisons department have admitted.

They made their admission to the Public Accounts Committee on Friday.

The accusations of special privilege surfaced last week after former DIG (Prisons) D Roopa Moudgil submitted a report to the home secretary accusing former DIG and IGP (Prisons) HN Satyanarayana Rao of receiving a Rs 2 crore kickback for the privileges given to Sasikala.

The special privileges included Sasikala having a special passage and five rooms to herself.

The officials said stamp paper scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi was also given special privileges.

The Tamil Nadu state government had ordered an enquiry after the accusations surfaced.
