One police constable lost his life and one was injured in a shooting near a police station in Assam's Karbi Anglong.

There are however cnflicting media reports on who the perpetrators were. While some say  it was a militant attack, some are calling it a case of accidental firing.

This follows last week's attack where attackers wearing military uniforms shot dead at least 14 people and wounded 15 in a busy market area in a town in the restive northeastern state.
