The provincial capital of Pakistan's Punjab, Lahore, was rocked by two explosions on Wednesday. In the first, which according to Dawn took place in the Y Block area in a defence locality, eight were killed and fifteen were injured. The second explosion took place in the upscale Gulberg area of Lahore, according to a Reuters report which quoted an anonymous Punjab government official. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

These explosions come at a time when Pakistan has recently been hit by a string of bombings.

The Pakistan Army has launched a massive hunt for militants across the country after more than 80 people were killed in a blast in a Sufi shrine in Sindh province last week.
