A man in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh shot his wife because of a delay in dinner.

The incident took place late on Saturday night, the Times of India reported, and the man was arrested on Sunday.

The man's two sons, and his older son's wife and two children were home when the incident took place.

"Around 9 pm, my father returned home drunk and asked my mother for dinner around 11 pm. A quarrel broke out between them as my mother refused to serve food immediately. Infuriated over the delay, my father whipped out a gun and threatened her. I, my wife and Tinku tried to intervene. But he opened fire and the bullet hit my mother on her head. She collapsed at the spot," the Times of India quoted the older son as saying.

The older son added that his children were asleep in another room at the time of the incident.
