At least three militants were killed on Sunday, as Indian soldiers foiled infiltration bid in Tangdhar sector of northern Kashmir state's Kupwara district.

The militants were involved in an attack on August 19, in which three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel were injured.

The Indian Army's four Para commandos retaliated to the fire by the militants, who were trapped during the encounter.

The entire area has been cordoned off.

In June, the Army had foiled an infiltration bid by killing two militants in Tangdhar sector near the Indian side of the Line of Control (LoC).

It was the second such infiltration bid foiled by the security forces along the LoC in Kashmir in three days.
