A national-level shooter from India has accused her coach of drugging and raping her.
Investigators said the accused had promised to marry the woman and were in a relationship for over two years.
The woman told police that the accused raped her when he visited her house in the affluent neighbourhood of Chanakyapuri in New Delhi on her birthday.
The accused -- who has competed in international events and is a recipient of India's top sports award -- spiked her drink before sexually attacking her, according to the woman.
When she later confronted the accused, he threatened to kill her, the victim told the police.
The accused is a coach connected to the Sports Authority of India (SAI), a national sports body set up by the Indian government.
The accused has been asked to cooperate in the investigation and has not been arrested, Indian TV agency NDTV reported.
