With the Congress coming in a distant third in the Delhi municipal elections, Ajay Maken resigned as Delhi Congress chief Wednesday.
He said he was taking responsibility for the defeat.
"I will submit my resignation to the Congress President and Vice President shortly," Maken said.
Maken added that he would not hold any post in the party for the next one year.
The BJP meanwhile dedicated its win to the 25 CRPF jawans who died in a Maoist ambush in Sukma, Chhattisgarh.
