Congress Meerut district president calls Rahul Gandhi 'Pappu', fired

Congress Meerut district president Vinay Pradhan was sacked from his post after he allegedly called Rahul Gandhi "Pappu" during his visit to Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh last week.

Vinay Pradhan, however, denied calling the Rahul Gandhi "Pappu", which is used derogatorily in social media to describe the Congress vice-president.  

As soon as Pradhan was sacked, the word went viral on social media with people reacting to the latest "Pappu" debacle.

Rahul Gandhi had initially taken a train to reach Mandsaur, he suddenly changed his plan in the last leg of the journey riding pillion on a motorcycle to visit violence-hit Mandsaur which was reeling after police allegedly fired at farmers demanding better prices for their produce and farm loan waiver.

The Congress leader was briefly arrested en route to Mandsaur.
