Fire tenders, disaster management units and local police have been rushed to the spot
A portion of a building in central Taltala area in Kolkata collapsed this afternoon with few people feared trapped under the debris.
The bodies of Himadri Pahar (38) and Hansa Shau (20) were found from the rubble of the 10 Mirror Street building in central Kolkata's Taltala area in the evening, police said.
"We are clearing the debris, it was a residential building that was being used as a godown," Kolkata mayor Sovan Chatterjee said.
The century-old building on 10 mirror street collapsed around 12:45pm(local time), officials said.
Fire tenders, disaster management units and local police have been rushed to the spot for search and rescue operation.
The building collapse in Kolkata occurred just a few hours after a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai.
