Traffic cop stops President's convoy to let ambulance pass, wins hearts & minds

A Bengaluru traffic cop has won hearts and minds after he stopped the President's convoy to let an ambulance pass.

The traffic cop, ML Nijalingappa, stopped the President's convoy to let an ambulance through at Bengaluru's Trinity Circle on Saturday.

President Pranab Mukherjee was in the city to inaugrate the Green Line metro and was at the time heading back to Raj Bhavan. 

Traffic was heavy at the time but sub-inspector Nijalingappa quickly passed on directions that way be made for the ambulance.

Benagluru Police later announced a reward for Nijalingappa.

Abhei Goyal, deputy commissioner of police, Traffic, East Division, Bengaluru City, later took to Twitter to praise the officer's presence of mind. 

"P SI Sh Nijilingappa is rewarded for deftly allowing the ambulance before the 1st citizen of India," he wrote.
