60 Islamic State militants killed in security operations in Afghanistan: Reports

Sixty militants of the Islamic State (IS), a jihadist militant group, were killed and over 18 others were caught alive during security operations in different parts of Afghanistan, said the government on Friday, Pajhwok Afghan news agency reported.
At least five soldiers from Afghan National Army (ANA), the main branch of the Afghan Armed Forces responsible for ground warfare in Kabul, were also killed during the operations, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement. Weapons, ammunition and other equipment were seized from the militants.
The operations were carried out in different provinces: Nangarhar, Paktika, Ghazni, Paktia, Uruzgan, Helmand, Kandahar, Ghor, Badghis, Herat, Kunduz and Baghlan.
