President Pranab Mukherjee: Life in Rashtrapati Bhawan

India's outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee is expected to be given a farewell on July 23 by both the Houses of Parliament. President Mukherjee took over office in 2012 during PM Manmohan Singh's Congress-led UPA government.

President Pranab's wife Suvra Mukherjee died on 18 August 2015 after suffering from a heart ailment. She served as the "First Lady" of India from 2012 until her death in 2015.

Pranab Mukherjee has welcomed five chief guests at the Republic Day Parade at Rajpath since 2013.

The initial parade during his presidency in 2013 featured King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck from Bhutan and Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe in 2014; former President of US, Barack Obama in 2015; former President of France, Francois Hollande in 2016 and finally Crown Prince Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of Abu Dhabhi in 2017.

President Pranab believed in No clemency

President Pranab Mukherjee has rejected 30 clemency pleas in his five-year tenure which including refusing clemency of 2008 Mumbai terror attack convict Ajmal Kasab, 2001 Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru and 1993 Mumbai bombings mastermind Yakub Memon.

Pranab Mukherjee hosts guests 'at home'

President Mukherjee hosted an 'At Home' on India's 70th Independence Day.

The function was attended by a galaxy of dignitaries, including Vice- President Hamid Ansari, his wife Salma, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife, BJP veteran LK Advani and Vimla Sharma, wife of former President late Shankar Dayal Sharma, Union Ministers, three service chiefs and members of the diplomatic corps.
